| Don't have a woodland to study at your school?
The Oxbow National Wildlife Refuge in Harvard, Massachusetts may be the place
to go! Oxbow is one of the almost 500 refuges in the National Wildlife Refuge System administered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. It is composed of 711 acres of riparian woodland and adjacent wetlands on the floodplain of the Nashua River. |

| The Oxbow National Wildife Refuge affords
students of all ages the opportunity to learn and apply their knowledge in an outdoor setting |

| The Oxbow NWR can be reached by following
Route 110 south from Harvard Center for 1.8
miles and turning west on Still River Depot
Road. The refuge entrance and parking lot
are across the railroad tracks and adjacent
to the river. A two-mile self-guided nature trail begins at the parking area, follows the riverbank, crosses two oxbow ponds and returns along the tank road. The Refuge borders Fort Devens. The Army maintains a right of way throughout the refuge, so watch for military vehicles which occasionally use the tank road. |
